I vote that something really embarassing happens to Brandon. I really like Anita she is going to turn that office on her head. Emmet is someone alot of people can identify with, including me. It will be nice to see where you take this story. Look foward to the next chapter.

Starting out with lunch, I have a feeling that the term "...just deserts..." is going to come into play. There seem to be a few who will be "...hoist with their own petard..." I see opportunity for some really hot scenes of confidence building of our hero. Or will it be heroine? Great start Ruth. Waiting anxiously for the development.

You know, I was sure I wasn't going to like this very much without Snape or Hermione, but I am completely bowled over. It's great, you should write original stories more often! Actually, have you ever considered trying to get published? These two chapters are better than the last 2 novels I've read from prominent authors. Great work!!
Love Anita and I'm crushing on Emmet. But what I'm looking forward to is Anita meeting Mom. Wow that will be explosive and fun to read.
The character of John reminds me of my mom's second husband. Thankfully not to the same extreme but he was bad. He drank way to much, was doing drugs in the basement, which we didn't know about until after the divorce, and a lot of other things that would make anyone cringe. He also mentally abused us and I think he was physically abusing my mom but she never told me or my sister. Anyway.... I really love this story so far I can identify with most of the characters. Emmet reminds me a little of my husband, kind of dorky, and doesn't know how to say no when it comes to family and friends, even though it may effect me or Xander, (our son). Anita looks like she had a really tough childhood, which I can identify with a little. I can't wait to see how this story progresses.
Awesome so far, her dad sounds like my moms father, can't call him grandpa cause i never knew him but the stories leave one horrified. You're doing utterly fantastic hon, hope all is well with you. =)

Oh poor Anita shes had it tough. I hope she finds a new place to live soon, at least Al is watching out for her, thats very kind of him. I'm laughing so hard at the fact that Emmet's mom still cuts his hair because my husbands mom still cuts his hair...a little scary! Can't wait for more.

You know, I totally agree with Anita. The nerdy ones are the best. My mom thinks I'm weird 'cause I think Charlie on that TV show "Numb3rs" is hotter than his brother. Pokerfan: I'm wrong...I did have Severus do the do in "A Matter of Matrimony" I think...he and Hermione were trying to abstain from having sex until they married and Severus wanked off in the bathroom after engaging in a few kisses with Hermione, and she was leaning on the door watching him without his knowledge. But that was a "desperation wank" and was observed...so it really doesn't count in my estimation. Real wanking off is a solo affair because of innate randiness, rather than inspired. Maybe I better post a warning on this review link. Getting a bit spicy here. lol

I was only able to read it by reading Ch9 and hitting next page. Don't know if that's happening for anybody else, but thought I'd let you know.
Dear Ruth, I don't know if you will take this as a complement or not. I have read Danielle Steele and Nora Roberts, and this tale is right up there in story line and style. You have talent lady. I hope you never give up your HP stories about Severus and Hermione, but your current story is outstanding.

Well now it up to Emmet to close the deal. He just needs new cloths and a new haircut, (and contacts or new glasses wouldn't hurt). Hopefully that will help him with his confidents to help him close the deal, and then he will have the respect of his fellow co-workers. Can't wait for more.
oh thats soooo true, lovely chapter hon =) god just talking bout the shirt and ties and slacks and all makes me miss the days when my hubby wore that to work. God he looked smashing in a white dress shirt, black slacks and a nice tie. last time i saw him dressed in a tie was our wedding day over 5 years ago but damn the memories lol. --------Anita is gonna have emmet styling in no time this is utterly great. =)
Dear Ruth, you let Emmett refer to Anita as "Miss Barrows" and I think you meant "Bowen"? Also good books for all are Malloy's "Dress for Success" for both men and women. It also explains how to get good clothes at reasonable prices. Love the story, lady. You are keeping me curious.

This chapter had me really looking back on my own relationship with my mother...I miss her even though I complained at times about taking care of her. Sniff!!! I've been checking all day...so sorry you're sick! But I must say, getting very addicted to this story. Now, Jennifer (was that her name?)...you may have known Emmett but he is NOT for you. Though I'm sure we can still have some fun moments without him straying from Anita. I think Anita needs to learn that Emmett isn't going to judge her on her father...or let her put up with him causing her grief and to run away. And you know who could point that out? His mum! lol the kielbasa sausage was o naughty but think i woulda rather seen a banana lol. my mom used to chop up and cook that kind of sausage atleast once a week or more when i was a kid, can hardly eat the stuff now lol. Bowen is Anitas last name, Barrows is emmets so Anitas dad's last name is incorrect just to let you know. Aside from that this chapter was great =) A lavendar Escalade with spinners! dear god! I always thought spinners on a car were like screaming look at me i have money come jack my car lol. Course i've seen people put spinners on beat up cars that look like they belong in a junk yard so never can tell lol. Definitely made his mom happy though. This story is going swimmingly keep up the fantastic work =)

Oh, this was another great chapter! I loved everything...mom calming down and accepting that her son might get into a relationship, sexual or not, being more independent (I tried that with mom) although her selection of cars did warrant the attention she's receiving. The drugstore was hilarious, and the girls in the office are intriguing despite their (well, some of them) demeanor. What a movie! IS this the original that Madonna's husband tried to recreate with his wife starring in the role? I use the term "star" loosely here. I might want to check out the original now. Have you seen Habla Con Ella (Talk to Her)? That's another good foreign film, as well as many, many others. Can't wait for anther installment...continuing the date? Ooh! Smut finally? Some tender love making? I hope Emmett read some good stuff, even though those books can be full of too many generalizations.

Yes, Emmet's mom has a new toy...very helpful in getting her out the house. I don't know how much that book helped Emmet. I doubt if it turned him into some kind of virgin Casanova. lol. Very few "first times" are that great for guys I think. I can't imagine them being very good any way. Too much excitement involved. But who knows. It's still kind of early for lemons I think...maybe. lol.

Finally been able to catch up on my reading. With all the last minute shopping, gift wrapping, cookies and candies to make I haven't had the time to sit down and read. And tomorrow starts the two day family event for the Hoildays. I'm going to be dead by the 26th. This is a great story and I love how easily Emmet is embaressed, I can't wait to see if he even makes it to the end of the movie. Maybe they will be doing something else by the time the movie ends. Actually, when someone is hyperventilating, your not supposed to give them a bag to breathe into. Something about how it doesn't deliver oxygen to the brain, only carbon monoxide. You know, 'cause you breathe carbon monoxide, so you're only getting that. You're suppose to put you head between your legs, or something. I don't know if that's even a well known fact. JD: Lol, if you're a nerd...I am too. The "paper bag" for hyperventilation is outdated just for the reasons you stated. A better way to handle it is to plug one nostril and breathe out of the other until you catch your breath. But the bag image is funny, which is why I used it. lol. I think I handled it in a more updated manner in one of the HG/SS stories I wrote. So I knew better, but still liked the idea of the bag. :)
