Chapter 31 ~ The Woes of Colin Creevy
Colin had just managed to get away from the horde of wizards and
witches pursuing him. He had never apparated at a full run before. He
understood why it wasn’t common when he apparated, still at a full run
and almost knocked himself unconscious crashing the wall of his living
room. At least his camera was still intact. While his pictures
developed, he walked to his kitchen cupboard and took out the bottle of
healing draught he kept, and swallowed some down. Yes, his face stopped
throbbing. No one had any idea how often he had to use that. Being a
freelance photographer could be dangerous work. No one liked the
paparazzi. He had become very adept at dodging blows and hexes.
He had taken some exciting shots at the garden. He couldn’t believe his
luck. Capturing a full on Death Eater attack on film! The last shot he
took of Draco’s body was what almost got him caught, but he had to have
it. While everyone was focused on Snape and Granger, he had crept up
and snapped the picture of Draco, lying on the ground, sightless, his
shirt covered in blood. It was a pretty gruesome shot, but an amazing
one. Almost everyone in the garden turned and started yelling at him.
Then he ran and they ran after him. Still, he got away.
This roll of film was going to make him a fortune!
He walked back to his photo room and removed the roll of film from the
developing potion. He unrolled it and held up the negatives. Yes, he
could see action on the film. He quickly did a duplication spell, and
hid the second roll behind a book in his small library in his bedroom.
He had learned to do this by experience. There had been plenty of
occasions when angry wizards came to reclaim the photos he had taken,
leaving him with nothing.
There was a knock on his door. Uh oh. He walked to the foyer and peeped
out the peephole. Damn! The Ministry. Shit. He unwarded and opened the
door.
Two ministry aurors stepped inside, looking around then focusing on Colin. The tall black bald wizard held out his hand.
“You know the drill, Creevey,” Kingsley said in his deep rich voice.
“Yah,” Tonks chimed in, “Hand it over.”
“Why?” Colin tried to protest, knowing he had already lost.
“Because the Ministry does not want those pictures made public,”
Kingsley said with a disapproving frown. It was clear the Auror didn’t
agree with the Ministry’s attempt at cover-up.
“Considering they didn’t send any Aurors to the scene, the Minister
feels it shows the Ministry in a bad light. Makes them look lax, “
Tonks said, her brows furrowed.
“But both of you were there!” Colin said, “You are Aurors!”
“Yeah, we were there, but we don’t need to be seen on film, know what I mean?” Tonks said, her eyes narrowing.
“I didn’t take any pictures of you,” Colin lied. He had pictures of Tonks and Kingsley binding Death Eaters.”
Kingsley looked at him archly. He had dealt with Creevey before.
“Just hand over the pictures, Creevey. And the negatives,” he said, walking toward the young wizard.
“Fine,” Colin spat, turning and heading for the photo room, flanked by
the two aurors, “ I’ve just developed the negatives. I haven’t had time
to develop photos yet.”
“Even better,” said Kingsley, “but you won’t mind us looking around, will you?”
Colin shrugged as he handed Kingsley the roll of negatives. The wizard
pointed his wand at the roll and it burst into flames and disappeared.
Colin groaned. Then he and Tonks poked around the photo room, rifling
through papers, opening drawer and searching through files. Tonks
stopped, and pulled a photo out of one of the files, and cocked her
head.
“Wow, this is a hot one, Colin!” she said, holding it up so Kingsley
could see. It was a picture of a wizard and witch going at it hot and
heavy. The rapidly bouncing headboard was easy to see. It had been
taken through a window.
Colin flushed. “Sometimes I am hired to take photos of cheating wizards and witches.”
Kingsley studied the picture, and pulled at his collar a little, his
chocolate eyes sliding toward Tonks, who grinned at him naughtily.
“I think I’ll take this too,” Kingsley said, plucking the photo out of
Tonk’s hand, and putting it in his robe pocket. “Pornography.”
Colin seethed. “All right. You’ve just took my pay for the next two months away from me. Anything else?”
“Nope,” Tonks said, turning and heading for the front door, followed
rather closely by Kingsley, whose dark eyes were intently focused on
her swaying hips. Colin followed them.
They walked to the front door. Kingsley turned to the young, scowling
wizard. “Creevey, we don’t like to push up on you like this, but you
know how it is. We have to follow orders. Take care.”
“Whatever,” Colin said bitterly.
He closed the door, and turned toward his bedroom, thinking about what
publication he would approach first. He wouldn’t include the pictures
of the Aurors in the photos. He wanted to remain healthy.

“Well, we’d better get back to the Ministry and report mission
accomplished,” said Tonks, preparing to apparate. Kingsley caught her
by the arm, and pulled her against him.
“I think we should stop by headquarters first,” he said, looking down
at her, his delicious voice made even more delicious by desire, “I
can’t seem to get that bouncing headboard out of my head.”
Tonks squealed happily as he pulled her against him even tighter and disapparated.

A/N: Had to add a little wrap for Colin. And I love Kingsley and Tonks. They are good together.
