ooo0o0o this seems like its gonna take Hermione alot of work to get through to him. I cant even think of a way. Cant wait to see what youve got installed for us! I love the new look, but I terribly miss the old one. I would turn off all the lights whenever I read your stories! And it would be really dark. It was awesome! Anywho, I LOVE this new idea and I can't wait to see how Hermione suduces Sevvie. Love you!

ch 4 : really Severus is unsufferable. I beg you, make Hermione make him pay, and Raucous too for that matter. But in a way that will bring our couple together, I'm sure you can manage that.
Wow, I have to say I've been enjoying this, however, I did have a problem with Severus here. I know this is only a fic, and its your fic, but the douche comment was beyond crude. I don't know of any woman who would forgive a man that comment. A comment like this enough to make me just turn off my attraction and walk away.
Wow... I don't think H. would have ever thought Sev and Raucious would be such a perfect pair. If you are going for not quite so much romance, it will be an interesting change, and I'm not complaining. I laughed so many times in this chapter!

Shit head, I mean Severus needs to be put in his place. Just because Hermione tolerated his inappropriate comments and treatment of her in his class, it doesn't mean she's spineless. If anything, it shows a tremendous amount of self control, IMO. I would have cussed him out but she's smart enough not to sink to his level in class in front of the students, especially since her college credits depend on it. She's stuck between a rock and a hard place and HAS to take his crap if she wants to pass -- which is something he should actaully identify with as a spy who has to keep his cool no matter what, and who is at the mercy of a crazy master. I know Sev is usually far and away the most dominant of the two in most respects, but I hope she brings him down several notches before all is said and done. This is about the time she needs to use some of her charm and transfig brilliance to show him a thing or two. I hope she also proves that older/more experienced isn't necessarily more mature, especially in his case. Sev's a real shit in this story. Go Hermione!
crap. I left a review but it must have been too long. Short version: Severus hypocrit shit head, deserves lots of revenge and hexes upon him. Hermione justified and will hopefully dish out a lot more devious revenge and hexes upon him. In the end, will anything melt the buggers heart?
Oh man, now that was FUNNY! Lol! Yep, the confrontation should be good. Another good read and I can relate a bit...back when I was a teenager my mom sold our house and I did not like the buyers. They were pushy and rude and tried to take advantage of my mom. So when we were getting the last of our stuff out, I took a fish from the freezer and put it in the heater duct in the bathroom. In fact, our little Hermione should be smart enough to outsmart both bad boys, using Marcus as a way to make Severus jealous without jeopordizing her virtue. After all, the girl has waited this long for the dark one, she'd be stupid to fall for Marcus's "charms." I hope she makes them both look and fell like fools -- serves them right! You go Hermione!

Severus is not a warm man or a good man but he is a man of integrity, and if nothing else he hate when someone else tries to take something that is his. Even if he is the one that set it up. Sometimes you don't know the value of something till someone tries to steal it. -- B
Thank you for your excellent comments, Anonymous. I never described exactly how Marcus sees. Thermally is just as good as visually I imagine. Scientifically, it isn't possible to see in total darkness, but this is not a scientific A/U :) It's magical, so the rules that govern physical laws could and should be different. But I still like the viper vision. Or maybe a psuedo-vision based on the molecular vibration that solid matter gives off. Since I'm not going to go into the details of Marcus' ability, the readers are free to decide how it works exactly, so long as it works. lol. Again, thank you for your comments.

Chapter 6 -- Thank You, Thank You, Thank You!!! I was getting so pissed off at how you were writing Hermione. I do not see her as one who would sit back and allow someone, anyone, to trash her. Now that you've written her as standing up for herself, I can happily read the next chapters.

Chapter 10: ack! How could smart, cunning little Hermione be so quickly duped by this guy in such a short amount of time? Especially after everythhing she's experienced since she entered the magical world. I'd laugh my ass off if she shows up to lunch with notebook and research materials like Marcus was nothing more than an interesting bit of information. I would also think it hilarious if she finds out about the little scheme and pulls one over on both men. Usually, I'm rooting for Snape to win Hermione over but this time I'm totally in Hermione's corner!

Imagine my joy this morning to wake up and find not one but four updates. YIPEE! I almost died after chapter 13 when Hermione drank the potion (nooooo) but I should have known better. You wouldn't have let Hermione forget all about Severus (whew). And I love the way she got back at Marcus and Raucous. I will say to you what Ron said to Hermione, "you are scary, brilliant, but scary." Toodles.

I think it would be poetic justice for Severus to fall hopelessly in love with Hermione and having to amend his behavior. Right now, he still just wants to use her for a piece of ass, so he's not much better than when he made the douche comment in front of students. But to have to admit he cares for her, even loves her, (later of course) will be the biggest step. After all, he continue to be a Big Old Curmudgeon while still treating his woman with proper respect. Respect does not mean he's weak or soft. If he wants respect, he has to earn it and give it where it's due. No matter ones sacrifices for the greater good, it still doesn't afford automatic benefit of the doubt. The guy needs a piece of humble pie, IMO. Go Hermione! As for Marcus, I don't think Hermione should give that jerk one inch of leeway (sp?). Kick his ass, girl!
Ms_figg, i've forgotten to tell you how i love the severus in this story after it had developed. he is so dark and delicious even though he is self pitying and all that stuff. So keep him that way (i mean the dark stuff). He is dark and bad... although got a bit good with the pensieve stuff. hehe. i love it. You know how to put severus in a story and listen to ur instincts. not anyone else's. keep writing. waiting for the next chapter.

great writing as usual...but I just don't understand why Hermione wants Severus in the first place. I mean, he acts like a jerk and other than an awesomely sexy voice...he doesn't have any redeeming qualities to explain her falling in love with him, except that "she wants to save him". my mother always says 'you can't raise no already grown man', and Hermione, despite her instances of revenge, is not requireing the man she loves to treat her with any manner of respect before she jumps into bed with him. You have to teach a man how to treat you, and she's letting him insult her, manipulate her, pay men to have sex with her(!) then deciding that once he understands he wants her, everything is okay?! Where's herself respect...crushed under his heel?! On a positive note, her revenge for Marcus was awesome and hilarious (will Cassandra make an appearance...one can only hope) and I love the bird

Larissa: This rather naïve, heart-led Hermione is stuck on the dark heroism, untouchable demeanor, bad-boy, dangerous, sexy, tortured soul aspect of Severus Snape. Many women are drawn to men that aren’t deserving of love, believing they can change them. That’s an unfortunate reality, but a reality nonetheless. She has no requirements for Severus to meet…she is drawn to him as he is. It would be better that she did. As for his insults and cruelties, she knows that is how the wizard is. She’s dealt with it for years as a student, and is probably quite hardened against it for the most part. And like women who are drawn to men that are bad for them, she overlooks all the wrong he’s doing to her, in the hope that one day he’ll come around and appreciate her. Severus Snape is her first love. She wants him at all costs, even if she has to go through hell. She’s also adapting, learning how to deal with him successfully, and in doing so has gained his interest, something he said she would never have. She has changed his mind and he does have a grudging respect for her ability to stand up to him. She’s also made him admit (in a way) that he wants to be loved. That is quite a coup, although he does not yet love Hermione. She has breached the initial wall. There is good reason to believe she can change more about him, at least concerning her, in the future once they have established a intimate relationship. As far as Hermione’s self-respect is concerned, she would lose respect for herself if she didn’t follow her heart concerning the wizard. After she drank the potion, she browbeat herself for making that choice. (And I call myself a Gryffindor). That was self-loathing because she gave up on something important to her. There’s a saying that basically says (and I paraphrase) respect is not something you can earn, or others can give you. Respect is something you must have for yourself. And I believe Hermione does respect herself…she is just willing to suffer hardship to get what she wants from the wizard she wants. For the time being, it may seem that Severus is the controlling force, but in reality, Hermione is the real catalyst for change and hopefully will eventually make their relationship into something wonderful that meets both their needs. At least in this story :) Thanks for your review.

Oh Koda...so sorry about your kitty :( I know what it's like. When I moved here to AL, I had a dog Fearless, that was poisoned by a neighbor accidentally. (was winterizing car and left out antifreeze in a little pan). I had to put him to sleep too. But I was sitting at my computer that same night, grieving and suddenly had the urge to look down. For just a split second I saw him, sitting at my knee, panting a smile at me, and looking very happy. I know I saw him, and it made me feel better even if others don't believe me. It's said every pet we own stays with us, and is waiting for us on the other side. If that's true, I'm going to be mobbed by a pack of dogs.

I won't be a party to holding a chapter hostage for reviews. At this point I could care less if you write lemons or not. It's taken you 28 chapters of teasing, and quite frankly, I don't have the patience Hermione does.
Nicole: Well as for my "subtle extortion" take that with a grain of salt. Most who know how I write know I am driven to write and would do so without a single review. I am story driven, not review driven, though I do really enjoy reading them and use them as impetus to keep going when I am a little tired, which I am feeling right now. Knowing someone is waiting for the next chapter makes me sit back down and start writing again. As for holding a chapter hostage, I couldn't do it if I had duct tape and shackles at my keyboard. What I like about your stories Ms_Figg is that you take your time and don't allow your work to be influenced by what the readers want. Everybody wants something different or faster, but you pace your work and develop the tension and anticipation wonderfully. You write what you want to write the way you choose to write. I think that is commendable. Take all the time you want for the lemons and tell the story you want to tell. I'll be reading. :)

Well, I finally got chapter 33 up. It's a cliffie but for the first time, I didn't do it purposely. Got tired. I don't do 'sick' well. I wanted to put something up for ya'll though. I changed the way to access chapters now because updating the links on every page was killing me. Took too long. So now there is a main index page when you enter the site and click to the story. Why don't you just make page templates? That way, all you have to do is cut and paste the chapter and change the number where the links should already be for the next chapter. At the end of the story, just delete the link altogether.

It's kind of hard to type at the moment because my monitor is all steamed up and it's all your fault (not that I'm complaining). I'm not very fond of chowder myself but if you really want to give your tastebuds a screaming orgasm then I suggest you look up the website for Thorntons. They're a UK chocolate company and have a store on almost every High Street and one of the things I miss the most about living in England (sigh).

I have an excellent recipe for Manhatten Clam that is easy to make and even my very hillbilly hubby luvs it. If you want it let me know I'll email you the recipe. Btw....excellent job as usual.

Manhatten clam chowder,coming up!: 3 slices bacon,diced. 1tsp dried thyme. 1c. sliced onions, 3c. diced potatos, 1/2c. diced celery, 5 cups hot water, 2tsp.salt, 1/8tsp.pepper, 31/2 cups diced canned tomatos,1 1/2 cups diced carrots, 3 cups clam liquid, 2 doz. shucked clams, 1 T. parsley. Saute bacon until crisp. Stir in thyme and onions. Add potatos and next 4 ingredients. Cover and simmer 5 min. Add tomatos, carrots, clam liquid (add enough water to make 3c.) or you can use 2 cans chopped clams. Simmer 1 hr. and voila! You can make your own; better yet, have someone make it for you! Man, Hermione and Sev are going to be hungry when they get done with each other! Wanna give them a heapin' helpin'? This is too hot to handle!
That was very nice. I'm glad she released him and the moved to that position, since it happens to be very uncomfortable to hold yourself over the guy while he lies down...my shoulders hurt just thinking about it. But I love Snape in professor mode.

Ch 35 - you don't know how to make Manhattan clam chowder on your own, with canned/fresh clams and canned tomatoes? How else will you feel better? Poor author, if only we could send you a Potions master to make your day.... teach you a lesson...
Just for you, called Mom and got her recipie Manhattan Clam Chowder 4 bacon slices, diced 1 cup chopped onion 1 cup diced carrots 1 cup diced celery 1 tbsp chopped parsley 2 can(14-1.2oz) diced tomatoes 24oz minced clams with juice 2 tsp salt 4 whole black peppercorns 1 bay leaf 1-1/2 tsp dried thyme 3-1/2 cups diced potatoes Saute' bacon until crisp.Add onion & cook about 5 minutes.Add carrots, parsley, celery & cook 5 minutes more.Drain tomatoes; reserve liquid in 1-quart measure.Add tomatoes to kettle.Drain clams; set clams aside. Add clam juice to tomatoe liquid.Add water to make 1-1/2 quarts. Pour into kettle. Add salt, peppercorns bay leaf & thyme. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cook & simmer 45 minutes.Add potatoes; cover & cook 20 minutes. Check to see if potatoes are tender.Chop clams & add to chowder. Simmer uncovered for 15 minutes. Serve hot. 8 large servings.

I'm wondering if Severus will ever give up this idea he has of "retribution" fucks. That's kind of immature. And I think not telling Raucus to back off is something he needs to seriously consider. Heck, he can have run of the castle, but he is showing how much he doesn't care about Hermione's feelings if he allows his familiar to do the things he does. Raucus after all, started it.
reviewer: Severus' acts of sexual retribution aren't actually that...he uses them to dominate Hermione for his own enjoyment, and probably hers too. If she really didn't like it, she could always do what she's doing right now, back off of him until he does what she wants, but she doesn't...soooo the 'retribution' continues. As for Raucous, he keeps Hermione nice and mean. Severus loves her slytherin-like temper and vengeful ways, that is really what melted the ice for him...and although she is a nice witch most of the time, she's also tough, sneaky, retalitory and doesn't take shit from anyone. But without Raucous to constantly keep her feisty, Severus wouldn't get to see that side of her as often, though he does his share to keep her aggravated as well. That's why he doesn't stop the bird...and besides, he promised Raucous he wouldn't make him be nice to her. The relationship (and the story) would become mundane quite quickly without Raucous as an antagonist, or Severus as a lusty, selfish, dominating and manipulative lover. He's already softening up towards the witch as it is. He can't lose the traits that make him soooo yummy too. As for the immaturity factor, I said early on that the Potions Master was 'like a randy child with a new sexual toy." So yah...he's having fun. I think he deserves to.
Okay, I'll take that. It makes sense.

Great chapter, as always. Sorry I've been reviewing alot less than I used to.. I have this habit of not doing something if I can't be the best, and my hopes of being the first reviewer and gone now that I have lot of homework and you have alot of reviewers.
