Arg! A short Snape? *Is irked* Snape must be 6'6... I do not like this idea of short Snape!
that was a most wonderful chapter...though i was led to believe 5 was up also...might wanna fix that. but still waiting! much love.
Ahem. Ron sex?! Ew.
well, it was good for Ron. lolol. And sorry Lizzie, but canon Snape in DH looked up at some Death Eaters so he's not that tall, but I believe average height.
In this instance.. I think Ron is so inferior compared with Severus... I wonder how will Ron realizes that Hermione is going to dump him? Okay.. Ms. Figg.. you promised short and sweet.. so I am hanging onto this story for dear life of your prolific updating for An Alternate Universe...
Hi all. I've decided to share an AFF response I wrote to a comment from a reader
I call "Lurker" who writes rather long and detailed reviews and comments that
amuse and amaze me to no end. I've only included a part of her comment
concerning canon Snape in this story and my response to it.
Lurker: Snape... it's a little weird warming up to him. For me, anyway. I
like his demeanour, and overall look, and I'm not particularly attached to his
"darkly handsome" reincarnation... but the idea of him being a scrawny, thin
skinned, yellow teethed man of average height is dimming some of his sex appeal.
Even with that mammoth bit of man meat swinging between his thighs. I think it's
the teeth that are really doing it for me... I imagine a bad taste and rough
tonge to come along with it.
My response: Well, that's canon Snape for you. I
figured he's about 5' 10 because I believe in Deathly Hallows he had to look up
at a couple of Death Eaters. Of course he could be six feet and they were six
four but, eh, naw. That's a stretch. Canon Snape is not sexy. It's his demeanor
that attracts us, his darkness, his duplicity and his courage. Not his looks.
Fanfic compensates for it by making him more attractive in dress, height, and
reserve. But the real Snape wears nothing but greying or worn underwear under
his robes, is not just skinny but gaunt, has oily hair, isn't tall, is ugly (to
most) and loses his temper to the point of spraying spittle. But he is a
complicated character that captures the imagination, not to mention the Snape of
the movies. Rickman is not a bad looking man at all. I think a lot of fanfic
readers and maybe writers identify more with the Snape of the screen rather than
of the book. I decided to give canon Snape his chance. He deserves it, yellowed
teeth and all. :)
PS: And yellowed teeth does not necessarily mean teeth
the color of butter. Many people have yellowed teeth and its hardly noticable. I
notice those with blinding white smiles more, but don't think them any more or
less attractive than others who don't. Crooked teeth are rather common too. My
son has crooked teeth but his smile is adorable. lol.
Oh, but I have to include the last bit she shared because it cracked me up:
Lurker: I will admit that the idea of them finding a potion that fixes him up
is appealing. It popped into my head, and won't go away, though I know I'm
heading for disappointment. It’s unrealistic and tacky. I can picture it now,
the clouds part, and Miss Figg hurls down a plot tool meant to manipulate her
characters and change then in idealistic ways. “Hey look! A fountain of
hunkiness! Go take a drink Snapeykins, though you know I love you just the way
you are… *shifty eyes*”
lololol. Too funny. I LOVE my readers. They make my day. ****
You know I love this story the only thing that is off for me is a 5'10" Snape. Everything else slight build etc. i can see, just not the height. I am oh so shallow. Great job though.
ch 4 - ahhh.... you've perfectly captured life with Won-Won, but it's early enough for Hermione to end things without being tied to him in marriage. c'mon, Hermione - wake up and go for Snapey!!
I wonder if Ron really WAS celibate for a month and a half. Hmmm....? Seriously, your FF really makes me question HP Cannon? I wonder if that makes me any less loyal? I hope not! Anywho, I think that Severus Snape has another ulterior motive... I can't wait to find out what he is up to. How will everyone take Hermione's decision to travel the world? To leave her 'safe' job, 'safe' boyfriend? I have a feeling Harry will support her decision... but there will most definitely be a "Hermione Ban" at the Burrow!! LOL. Chaps 3-4: These were two tasty, evocative chappies with succulent exchanges and a top-knotch unfolding of character and motive. I'm just grumpy because when Severus Snape whispers seductively in Hermione's ears, I want a touchdown...EVERY time. AND I'm completely unreasonable enough to simultaneously want the build up of sexual tension and also want H&S to shag like snow bunnies on Viagra in each and every chapter. Is that so wrong? I'm just asking...is it? Thank you for another scrumptious story, you wicked little Ms_Figg!
You know, even before reading this the thought of Ron having sex with anyone was enough to make me shudder in revulsion, and after reading this chapter, it kinda makes me wish...idk...to maybe cut it off so no one goes through that. Anyway, hope you update soon, I can't wait for the next chapter. PS:Will you be adding this story to the index?
I think Hermione would have been better off if she spent the holidays with Severus!
Real good so far Ron is such a prat. I like the snape/granger paring it is better then ron hermonie paring. I guess I am just evil hehehehe
Damn, Ron is one fricken selfish pig. Hermione had better ditch him as soon as she can and then head straight for Severus' rooms! I can't believe she would still let him fuck her even after she asked him those questions. If it hadn't been obvious before, it should be now. They aren't suited for each other! And may I just say HOT on Severus' half?! lol, that man must have some serious stamina from all these stories you've been putting himi through, lol, XD.
you know what - i say dump ron! or kill him! or castrate him! what a selfish pig! oh gods. if i was hermione i would be vomiting soo bad i'd be in hospital cos of it. lol! anyway. wondering how Hermione is going to get the hell away from all this crap and go with snape... ron's going to have a fit - which is fabulous. rawrrr!
I know Canon Snape is shorter than some of the death eaters, but I saw him as being 6'2, something like that, with all those psychotic wizard gorillas standing around 6'4. Oh yes, and Ron is 6'5 or similar. And 5'10 isn't average, its (for a man) short. Maybe I'm spoiled... all my male relatives are 6'5 or over, so I expect men to be that tall or be called short. But under 6'... that is SHORT. A chick should be able to wear heels around her guy, and since I'm 5'10, that prejudices me. Snape CAN'T be my height! *Freaks out* He. must. hit. six foot!
Oh, and I just noticed Snape has a santa hat on on each page's background. Thanks for making me laugh xD
Hi Lizzy: I tried to find the average height of an English male. All I could find was this:

The official Health of the Nation figures show that 30% of men aged under 25 are now over six feet tall. So if a couple of generations is at least 2 generations, that would have the average height as of right now as 5ft 10in.

for a second when i read the name - odessa divine i almost had a heart attack. lol. but thankfully she's into dating guys who are in their very very late adulthood. good for snape and hermione. and i simply cant wait to read how hermione manages to dump ron on his ass. didnt he read that book he got - 101 tricks to date a woman or something... in DH! atleast he should learn from his brothers... but only after hermione dumps him. hehe. :D
Chapter 5: Mhhh-hmmmm....getting there. Oh Ms_Figg, it sooooo c-c-cold here in New England tonight -- I just drove over miles of black ice (thank goodness for my AWD Subaru!). Can't you cook up a little something between H&S to warm things up a bit? Oh, gorgeous please with Severus on top? Sigh..............
I actually find your "Cannon" Snape attractive...okay maybe not attractive...but at least highly interesting and someone I'd seek out at the bar as referred to in that "Real Life" article (of course, I'd pick Adrien Brody any day over Brad Pitt!) Any how, I think you've hit on my main disappointments with the DH epilogue (besides, of course, Snape dying) and that is JKR's portrayal of Hermione's life. All I could think of was what a wasted life...married to a ho-hum sidekick with two kids and a job that is the magical equavlant of a laywer. Where's the magic in that? To me, it seemed like JKR "mugglized" everyone in the epilogue...it' like she though, "Let's tidy up all this Voldie nastiness with a cute happily-ever-after bow." Alright, I'll get off my soapbox rant and now review your story. I love it. LOVE IT! I really adore the idea of Snape giving her a good kick in the butt about her reality. I like the idea of her coming up with all kinds of questions about the trip. I can't wait to see what she could think up that would be helpful to them. I really did like JKR's idea of the evening bag Hermione carried around that has bottomless. I, also, liked your inventions from previous stories like the money bag, self-cleaning clothes, the cornucopia, etc. It's those kind of details that I really enjoy in a story. Keep up the great job and I hope you are feeling better! ps My new vocabulary word... :-) mugglized: To take something magical and recreate it in such a way as to make it common to even a mere muggle. Love to see Figgy doing that thing she does so well. Sorry to say that the NHS does an abysmal job of orthodontia. If you look closely at many British actors you will find that they have very uneven teeth. Anyhow Figgy is tops. One of the most creative minds in the fanfiction world. Love you Ruth! Respectfully,
